Writing

Learning to write well takes time, practice and encouragement.  It is often a challenge for teachers to give students the one-on-one they need to master this skill.

Using the California State Standards we have developed a ten-session summer writing program for each grade level. Students learn the  following "Writing Process:" Pre-write, Outline, First Draft, Revise, Edit, and Publish. They are given skill-building activities and are taught how to organize their thoughts and ideas with graphic organizers.

SAT Writing

The SAT's writing section includes an essay. The student's work is scored holistically, meaning the essay is judged as a complete piece of work. Points are not awarded for individual skills. We teach students the essential criteria for a high score in the writing portion of the SAT.

Summer Bridge Programs - First through Sixth Grade

First Class Tutors offers a summer program to help students bridge the school years, allowing a smooth transition from one grade to the next. Using California state standards, we offer curriculum that will review and reinforce what your child has learned his or her previous school year.  Once students achieve mastery of the previous year's material they will be introduced to curriculum that will give them a jump-start into the next grade level.
